What
makes us

different?

South African Roots.
Global Wings.

Redhill is a school that stands out for its unique approach to education and commitment to preparing students for success in an ever-changing global landscape.

Our school is divided into four separate schools, each with its own Head of School, catering to the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of different age groups. This allows us to provide a tailored and holistic education for every student, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

We strongly believe in offering our students choice and opportunity. That’s why we are currently the only school in the country to offer students the option of graduating with either an IEB or International Baccalaureate (IB) qualification. As such, our students are given the chance to choose the path that best suits their individual aspirations, interests and talents.

Redhill’s goal is to create lifelong learners who willingly embrace change and challenges, and who are not afraid to fail forwards. Our Smart Homework policy includes removing formalised testing from grades younger than Grade 7 so we can focus more on collaboration, problem-solving, confidence, curiosity and resilience instead of simply learning and regurgitating facts.

We also offer an innovative Bilingual IsiZulu/English Programme for students up until Grade 4, celebrating South Africa’s rich cultural heritage and fostering language skills in a diverse learning environment.

As a secular co-ed school, we strive to create an environment that is a microcosm of South Africa. We believe in diversity and inclusivity as essential ingredients for creating a school community that reflects the world our students will live and work in.

Redhill's unique
offering at a glance

Redhill School has a distinctive organisational structure featuring four schools on our Campus, setting us apart from the traditional three. Our innovative approach involves integrating Grade 1 into our Early Learning Centre and establishing a dedicated Middle School. This strategic arrangement enables us to sharpen our focus on the individual educational, social, and emotional requirements of each age group, ensuring a tailored and enriched learning experience.

ELC

Comprising children from KG1 – Grade 1, Redhill’s Early Learning Centre (ELC) is a four-year phase within a warm, affirmative, progressive, and innovative environment.

Junior

Spanning Grades 2 to 5, Redhill’s Junior School focusses on building confidence, fostering creativity and critical thinking, and developing strong collaborative skills.

Middle

Comprising Grades 6 to 9, Redhill’s Middle School is a community where students find who they are, cultivate a passion for knowledge, explore their abilities, expand their skills, and broaden their aspirations.

Senior

These pivotal years provide Grade 10 – 12 students with an opportunity to master their academic skills, contribute to the life and legacy of the school, explore future career options, and make memories to last a lifetime.

Student Leadership
"To the Student. By the Student. For the Student”. We believe in mobilising our student leaders to drive ideas into actions, our core values into lived realities, obstacles into opportunities for change, and separateness into solidarity.
Learning Without Fear
Alfie Kohn said it best, “Homework is the greatest single extinguisher of children’s curiosity that we have yet invented.” We couldn’t agree more. In fact, Redhill strongly believes that there should be no formal homework or standardised testing before Grade 7. Instead, our view is that it is more important for students to learn how to collaborate and problem-solve instead of simply learning and regurgitating facts.
Innovation
Redhill consistently drives innovation from the ground up, from our world-class facilities to our exceptional teachers who model innovation in the classroom. We strongly believe that the ability to be innovative is a skill that can be taught, measured and learned, and one that is key in preparing our students to make a global impact.
Reggio Emilia
Redhill ELC is inspired by Reggio Emilia, an educational experience in Early Years Learning where the child builds knowledge and constructs learning together with the teacher.
