About The CEO SleepOut™

The CEO SleepOut™ is created by The Philanthropic Collection, a social entrepreneurship collective that collaborates with businesses to change heart- and mind-sets, and find new approaches to philanthropy. The Event is part of a global movement, effecting positive social change for vulnerable and homeless communities. It asks business leaders to spend a winter’s night on the streets, raising funds and empathy for the homeless. Founded in Australia in 2006, The CEO SleepOut™ is now a global initiative, with Sleepouts taking place in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

The School SleepOut™

Redhill is rising to the challenge and will participate in the 2017 School SleepOut™. We invite our Grades 7, 10, 11 and 12 students to join us on Thursday 22, June 2017, from 18h00 until 06h00 the following morning at Oval field on the night; our aim is to raise much-needed supplies for our beneficiary - Refilwe Community Project - and to encourage students to develop empathy for the many homeless South Africans who are compelled to sleep on our streets.

This initiative is designed to afford students an opportunity to learn and develop beyond the classroom; therefore, we consider this as an essential experience for each of our students. The School SleepOut™ is regarded as an integral part of the Grades 7, 10, 11 and 12 years. Attendance is, therefore, strongly recommended.

Redhill School's - School SleepOut™ Brand Ambassador - Mbongeni Sibanda

As we hope to get every Participant to fully commit to roughing it for one night, in an effort to gain an understanding and empathy for the homeless and homelessness, we ask that you do not leave early.

Each year, The CEO SleepOut™ selects Beneficiaries that work within one or more of the 5 pillars required to integrate the homeless back into society; shelter, healthcare, education, nutrition, and community. In 2017, The CEO SleepOut™’s Special Chapter, The SheEO SleepOut™, and its affiliated Events, are focusing their efforts on Beneficiaries who provide shelter, especially for abandoned babies and children.

Participants of these Satellite Events are able to collect items or offer services to one of the 15 Satellite Beneficiaries, selected across the nine provinces, all of which create safe spaces for our vulnerable youth. Each one has offered an in-kind wish-list, which Participants will receive upon registration, to help guide their collections.
